Dr. Libby Abbas provides compassionate, evidence-based care for people with substance use disorders, grounded in dignity, respect, and harm reduction. She is board-certified in Addiction Medicine and has dedicated much of her career to improving access to non-stigmatizing treatment for individuals using opioids, stimulants (including methamphetamine and cocaine), alcohol, nicotine, and other substances.
Dr. Abbas has been actively involved in multiple addiction medicine initiatives and grant-supported programs focused on expanding access to medications for addiction treatment, integrating harm reduction into primary care, and improving continuity of care for patients in rural and underserved communities. Her work includes developing practical clinical tools, educational curricula, and community-based resources that support both patients and clinicians.
She believes that recovery looks different for every person and prioritizes patient-centered goals—whether that means reducing risk, improving health and function, or pursuing abstinence. Dr. Abbas partners with patients to meet them where they are, offering trauma-informed, judgment-free care that recognizes substance use as a health condition, not a moral failing.
